mother to thousands "Kalanchoe Daigremontiana" grows hundreds of small plants on the mother's arms, demonstrating her maternal prowess. After being freed, each plantlet descends to the earth to establish roots on its own, becoming the next "mother" in the family and never being too far from home. The mother-of-thousands, which is native to southwest Madagascar, is a well-liked houseplant succulent that does well in warm, dry environments. It is not a reliably flowering plant, but when it is, the blossoms are exquisite. The middle stem, which has grown higher for the occasion, is adorned with a chandelier inflorescence made up of tiny pink bell-shaped flowers. The hummingbirds are drawn to the tubular blooms.
